The Tedder Talks Series One

The Series One interviews, conducted in partnership with Lincoln International Business School, looked at one of the main themes of the 2018 Chief of the Air Staff Leadership conference: how we adapt to a changing workforce, and work environment and the implications this creates for our leadership. These interviews probed specifically the perception of the interviewees of the changing qualities and values of the ‘Millennial’ generation, and how the companies or units they lead are (or are not!) changing to adapt for this new cadre entering the workforce today.

The interviews were conducted at RAFC College Cranwell with the kind permission of the Commandant, and at the RAF Club, in London, whose help and support are most gratefully acknowledged.

This paper summarises the key themes emerging from the RAF Tedder/University of Lincoln “Tedder Talks”, a series of short video interviews with a diverse group of leaders from inside and outside the RAF conducted in the first four months of 2019. The purpose of the interviews was to explore the changing nature of the workforce as we approach the third decade of the 21st Century, and the implications for those changes on the nature of leadership.
