How You Study
Aimed at staff at all levels, this course provides a replacement to conventional unconscious bias training, departing from an approach of simply raising awareness of the existence of bias, towards eliciting long-term behavioural change. It will form the foundation of inclusive leadership.
This microcredential is organised into eight learning units which provide the students with a strong, critical foundation of knowledge and understanding:
Unit 1: Why Conscious Inclusion?
Unit 2: Becoming Conscious (Evaluation, Reflection, Awareness)
Unit 3: Embodying Inclusivity
Unit 4: Inclusive Teams
Unit 5: Inclusive Workplaces
Unit 6: Cultural Sustainability
Unit 7: Inclusive Toolkit 1 - Evidence for Action
Unit 8: Inclusive Toolkit 2 - Actions and Solutions
The microcredential is delivered through a combination of online micro-lectures, videos, and reading content (relevant research literature) aimed at guided self-study. The course also includes a series of synchronous seminars and workshops that facilitate group discussion, critical thinking, problem-solving, and peer learning. These seminars and workshops are presented as 'grand challenges', requiring group collaboration and teamworking. As the microcredential progresses, these sessions transition to action-learning sets, with learners tackling real work-placed challenges.
